Get your pulses racing

2016 is the year to celebrate pulses! So say the UN at least, and we agree with them. These little critters are fantastic.

Low fat, high fibre and rich sources of protein, pulses keep our bodies well and have a host of benefits to our planetary life support systems too. As well as adding nitrogen to soils and reducing fertilizer and energy inputs to farming pulse protein also has a massively lower environmental footprint in terms of carbon, land and water compared to animal protein.

That’s why we’re pushing pulses as a key ingredient in healthier and more sustainable food choices for everyone.

Kicked off with a cook off

Sunday 1st May, 4:30 – 7 pm at No1 Harbourside, 1 Cannon’s Rd, Bristol, BS1 5UH

A fun cook-off with Jenny Chandler and friends showcased innovative and attractive ways to use Brilliant Beans and other pulses (peas, beans, chickpeas, lentils and the like) as the centrepiece of your main dishes.

Professional chefs and heat-winning student chefs cooked their best recipes live on stage for the audience to taste and  judge the winners.
